The Office of Australian War Graves (OAWG), Trade Services Coordinator position is based at the New South Wales Operations Depot, Rookwood NSW 2141.

This role is a trade-based horticultural position that involves moderate physical work along with administrative duties supporting daily operations.

Under the direction of the State Operations Manager, the Trade Services Coordinator is responsible for supporting all horticultural and structural maintenance activities in NSW and ACT to provide operational and specialist support. This requires the programming of work for staff and contractors to carry out horticultural and structural maintenance and the management of minor projects. On occasion this can include providing operational support to other OAWG Depots. OAWG is responsible for various commemorative sites and assets which include War Cemeteries, Gardens of Remembrance, and numerous official commemorations in general cemeteries throughout Australia.

The Trade Services Coordinator assists in the supervision of staff and contractors and provides assistance in ensuring they operate in a safe and appropriate manner and therefore must be able to demonstrate the management of multiple public horticultural facilities within Commonwealth and State legislation and regulations.

The Trade Services Coordinator will form part of a team of APS staff and contractors to deliver high quality horticultural maintenance across multiples sites and official commemoration under the care of the Office of Australian War Graves.


DUTIES
As a Trade Services Coordinator you will be required to
Undertake a range of trade level horticultural works including but not limited to turf and horticulture maintenance including mowing, cultivation, pruning in addition to recognising and treating plant diseases/pests.
Perform duties under limited supervision in remote locations, including working independently as directed.
Provide appropriate guidance, support and mentoring to staff and contractors in order to achieve service delivery standards.
Operate plant, machinery and vehicles.
Carry out/oversee structural works such as minor landscape construction, stonemasonry, concreting and memorial maintenance tasks.
Operate and maintain necessary systems for recording and controlling computer data input into software systems.
Contribute to the planning, allocation and monitoring of team tasks and motivation of the overall workforce including contractors.
Implement, monitor and adhere to all WH&S policies and procedures.
Prepare reports and provide support to the NSW Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager in the administration of the work program.
Provide point of contact for enquiries and work-related communications from the public, ex-service organisation, contractors, OAWG and cemetery authorities.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
A valid current Australian driver’s license.
Australian recognised tertiary qualification in Horticulture, Turf Management or Landscaping preferred.
Similar trade, field and relevant horticultural experience.
ELIGIBILITY
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
Any successful candidate external to DVA offered employment will be required to undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
Any successful candidate will also be required to obtain and/or maintain, a baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance as a minimum.
