The Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Financial Operations Directorate is looking for an Accounts Payable Officer to continue to support changes and improvements in the way we operate. A key change is the implementation of a new Financial Management Information System.

Who we are looking for
Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated, meticulous attention to detail and resilient person who is keen to work in a fast paced team environment. You will be good with numbers and have high attention to detail. You should be comfortable communicating over the phone and via email with clients from diverse backgrounds.
You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be innovative, have a continuous improvement mindset and be able to implement changes.
Duties
Participate in day-to-day operational functions including: account processing, invoicing, monitoring and review, quality assurance, customer service, reconciliations, validations and corrections and records management to ensure the department’s financial and governance responsibilities and obligations are achieved.
Build rapport and maintain internal and external relationships, respond to enquiries, provide assistance and factual advice in a timely manner.
Maintain awareness of Commonwealth financial compliance and legislative frameworks.
Manage needs of customers to meet and exceed expectations, identify and resolve issues.
Participate as a constructive team member to deliver ongoing improvements, quality of service and professional practices and standards.
Utilise financial systems and analytical tools to research, analyse and reconcile data.
Manage prioritisation of own workloads checking accuracy of information and work, ensuring quality processing and receipting.
Perform other duties as required in the Financial Operations section to ensure the sections outcomes are accomplished.
Contribute to section and branch goals and objectives, business planning, evaluation and reporting on organisational goals in a collaborative and constructive manner.
Eligibility
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1+++, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 23 months.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
