The Commemorative Events Section is responsible for the planning and delivery of domestic commemorative services, as well as the annual overseas Anzac Day commemorative services in France and Türkiye. The range of responsibilities include the development and delivery of:
Event operations and logistics
Ceremonial and service content
Governance, procurement, financial management and support services
The Commemorative Events Section is filling one immediate vacancy and establishing a merit pool for expected vacancies at the APS 6 level. The following role is available for immediate filling:
Operations Manager
This role supports the Assistant Director by managing the planning and delivery of all operational and logistics requirements.
Possible future vacancies may become available for the following roles:
Ceremonial Manager
This role supports the Assistant Director by managing the planning and delivery of all service related content.
Senior Program Officer
This role works to the Assistant Director to the delivery of the commemorative program in relation to administrative and corporate functions.

Eligibility
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1+++, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.
Mandatory Requirements
The ability to travel overseas to support the delivery of Anzac Day is required for the Operations/Ceremonial Assistant positions. Therefore, the ability to obtain an official passport is required.
While not mandatory, language skills in either French or Turkish would be helpful so candidates are encouraged to mention this in their application.

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 23 months.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
