Our Opportunity
IP Australia promotes its activities via multiple communication channels. To support this work, IP Australia is seeking an experienced and professional Communications Officer to join the Internal Communications function, working closely with the team and subject matter experts to assist with a range of communication activities and projects.
The Communications Officer is responsible for delivering quality and timely communication advice and support. This includes working collaboratively across the organisation to plan, implement and evaluate effective communication solutions to achieve business objectives. As part of a small team, you may also be asked to assist across the broader Communications Section, with an opportunity to create content for our external audiences and provide media, social media, or event management expertise as needed.
The role requires a well-organised professional who can juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
As a Communications Officer you will:
Work collaboratively as part of a small, dynamic communication team
Provide communications advice, support and guidance to business areas to successfully deliver business outcomes
Draft, edit and publish written communications content, and assist with communications planning activities
Provide support for the delivery of IP Australia’s all staff internal events across a range of platforms, including online, hybrid and face-to-face
Build and maintain effective working relationships across the agency
Respond to enquiries and meet deadlines with attention to detail and an ability to manage competing priorities
Identify opportunities for improvement within the team’s systems and processes.

This role requires a person who is creative, committed to excellence, flexible, and demonstrates a strong focus on delivering high-quality communication products.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Sound communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders.
Experience contributing to the development and delivery of communication approaches that meet the needs of clients and target audiences.
Experience sourcing, writing and editing accessible and engaging communications content for a range of digital and traditional channels, in line with required standards.
Experience translating complex information into clear, easy-to-understand content for a broad audience.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Relevant tertiary education and or relevant experience in the fields of communication or a related discipline will be well regarded.
