The Town of Canmore, is currently accepting applications and looking to fill a permanent full-time position as Aquatics Coordinator – Operations and Training. Position Overview: As part of the Recreation Leadership Team at the Town of Canmore (“Town”) and reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor, the Aquatics Coordinator – Operations and Training (“Coordinator”) is responsible for the oversight of the daily work of head lifeguards, lifeguard/instructors, and assistant lifeguards to ensure the safe and efficient daily operations of the Aquatics Centre at Elevation Place. Additionally, this position takes the lead on deck procedures, pool maintenance, inventory, aquatic bookings and staff training. Time is split between administrative work and leading the Aquatics team.

Core Accountabilities:

Is responsible for the training, implementation and supervision of the delivery of aquatic programs, in-service training and special events, ensuring safe and efficient pool operation

Collaborates with the Aquatics Supervisor for the long term/short term planning for aquatic training development

Is responsible for scheduling and coordination of the pool schedule, aquatic bookings and special events

Orders and controls inventory for programs and events

Supports the Aquatics Supervisors with reviewing and verifying accuracy of staff timesheets

Assists with planning and implementation of the aquatic annual shutdown

Assists the Aquatics Supervisor in the development of Aquatic Department Policies in conjunction with all Provincial regulations and standards

Is knowledgeable about the IntelliLeisure software and the most effective methods for entering and retrieving data

Prepares and maintains statistical reports/records and ensure that all personnel administration is accurate and current

Provides swim instruction, aquafit instruction, lifeguarding and special programs to members and guests of Elevation Place, as required

Education & Qualifications:

National Lifeguard Award and Intermediate First Aid certifications – required

Swim & Lifesaving Society Instructor certifications – required

Lifesaving First Aid Instructor and National Lifeguard Instructor certifications – required

Post-secondary education in a related field such as Kinesiology or Recreation – preferred

Lifesaving Society Trainer certifications – required

Pool Operator Level I and Level II certifications – asset

AFLA/CALA Fitness or other specialty certifications – asset

Experience:

Minimum three years of experience in the Aquatic industry at a coordinator, programmer, or supervisory level – required

Ability to work a variety of shift times and hours including evenings and weekends – required

Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, IntelliLeisure, and Dayforce Software – preferred

Salary & Benefits:

Pay Range- $33.84 to $37.82 per hour. Compensation will be calculated based on the successful candidate’s related work experience and education

Work Schedule: Schedule consists of working a 40-hour work week, including evenings and weekends, typically Saturday to Wednesday. Here is the work schedule:

Saturday is from 1 pm – +.30 pm

Sunday – 10 am to 6.30 pm

Monday – 1.00 pm – +.30 pm

Tuesday – 1.00 pm – +.30 pm

Wednesday – 10 am to 6.30 pm or 1.00 pm – +.30 pm

Thursday and Friday are days off
