SUMMARY
The role of an Architectural Technologist is essential in supporting architectural teams through the development of accurate technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation. Technologists work closely with Architects and other team members to translate design concepts into buildable solutions while ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Proficient in software such as Revit, they contribute to the design and documentation phases of projects by producing high-quality technical drawings and coordinating with consultants and contractors. With a strong foundation in building systems, materials, and construction methods, Architectural Technologists play a key role in ensuring the technical quality and accuracy of architectural deliverables throughout all project phases.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Develop detailed construction drawings, technical documentation, and specifications for architectural projects using Revit and other design software.
Translate design concepts into technical plans that are buildable, compliant, and aligned with project requirements.
Collaborate with architects, consultants, engineers, and contractors to coordinate project documentation and resolve technical issues.
Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable building codes, zoning bylaws, and industry regulations.
Prepare permit and construction drawing packages under the guidance of senior staff or project leads.
Create detailed sections, elevations, floor plans, and construction details as required for each phase of the project.
Conduct research on materials, construction methods, and building systems to support design and documentation processes.
Support the preparation of specifications for materials, finishes, and assemblies.
Contribute to quality control efforts by reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Stay informed about evolving standards, codes, and technologies relevant to architectural practice.
