Position Overview:

As an Area Fleet Manager of Ontario, you will work alongside Fleet and Operational leaders to optimize logistical operations while upholding the highest environmental and safety standards. Key Responsibilities:

Manage the scheduling and repairs of waste collection and transportation vehicles.

Ensure timely and efficient deployment of fleet resources to meet service demands.

Oversee and manage third-party contracts and services related to fleet maintenance and repairs.

Monitor national purchasing programs and control departmental budgets.

Optimize fleet operations to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal transportation regulations.

Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures for drivers and fleet operations.

Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for mechanics and operational staff.

Stay updated on transportation regulations and communicate changes to the team.

Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, or near-misses involving fleet vehicles.

Supervise fleet operations staff and liaise with internal teams, including dispatch, drivers, and customer service.

Coordinate with external stakeholders such as waste disposal sites and recycling centers.

Address customer inquiries, complaints, and service issues related to fleet operations.

Foster effective communication to ensure smooth coordination and problem-solving.

Collaborate with the procurement team to manage inventory levels of vehicle parts and supplies.

Work with other managers and business unit leaders to meet operational requirements across the organization.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; additional relevant certifications are an asset.

5+ years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or a related field, preferably within waste management.

Proven leadership experience.

Valid 310T license required.

Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and waste disposal procedures.

Experience managing KPIs and operational performance metrics.

Proficiency in fleet management software and route optimization tools.

Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize routes and resolve operational issues.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
