• Sales Planning and Execution: The ASM is responsible for developing sales plans and strategies to achieve the company’s sales objectives. They need to develop an understanding of the market, customers, and competition, and create effective plans to achieve sales targets.
• Team Management: The ASM is responsible for managing a team of sales representatives and providing guidance, training, and motivation to ensure they achieve their targets. They need to set targets, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to team members to help them improve their sales skills.
• Customer Relationship Management: The ASM needs to develop strong relationships with key customers in the area and maintain regular communication to understand their needs and address any issues they may have.
• Reporting: The ASM needs to provide regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competition to senior management. They need to analyze data and provide insights to help the company make informed decisions.
• Sales Forecasting: The ASM needs to analyze market trends and customer demand to create accurate sales forecasts for the area. They need to work with other departments, such as production and logistics, to ensure that inventory levels are sufficient to meet demand.
• New Business Development: The ASM needs to identify new business opportunities in the area and work with the sales team to develop strategies to capture them. They need to identify potential customers and develop relationships with them to increase sales.
• Compliance: The ASM needs to ensure that the sales team operates within company policies and regulatory requirements. They need to maintain a thorough understanding of relevant laws and regulations and ensure that the sales team adheres to them.
• Work experience: Most organizations prefer candidates with 5-7 years of experience in sales or marketing, preferably in a leadership role. Candidates with experience in the relevant industry or market are preferred.
• Sales skills: The ASM must have excellent sales skills and a proven track record of achieving sales targets. They should have a deep understanding of the sales process, customer relationship management, and negotiation skills.
• Communication skills: The ASM must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. They should be able to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and senior management.
• Analytical skills: The ASM must have strong analytical skills to analyze sales data, market trends, and customer behavior. They should be able to identify opportunities for sales growth, cost savings, and increased efficiency.
• Computer skills: The ASM must be proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Office, CRM, and sales forecasting tools.
• Language skills: Fluency in the local language and English is usually required, and knowledge of other languages is an added advantage, especially in multi-lingual regions.
• Travel: The ASM may need to travel extensively within the area of responsibility or to other locations, depending on the organization's requirements. Hence, the candidate must be willing to travel as and when required.
