Job Description
(A Great Opportunity to Learn & Teach Project-Based-Learning)
About Us
(Start with this Presentation to get a comprehensive overview of our School)
The Polymath School is Mumbai's first K-12 Project-Based-Learning (PBL) School.
In projects that typically last 3-4 months, we integrate rich content, 21st-century skills and human values in the context of a real-life problem or a challenge. The interdisciplinary nature of projects, along with the real-life context, makes learning come alive for students and educators
(Examples - Organic Farming Project, "Building a Frog Habitat").
Even though we are a school, we try to maintain a start-up culture. The reason for that is simple - if we want our students to develop life-skills like critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, etc., we, the facilitators (educators), need to live it ourselves.

A Thriving Art Scene
In our country, the “arts” are considered more a hobby than a true “academic” pursuit. But by keeping the arts on the fringes, we are doing a disservice to our students. Arts can inculcate tremendous passion, commitment and discipline in a child. An appreciation of arts makes her more reflective and open to others’ points-of-view. In our school we would like to encourage a very lively arts scene
Responsibilities
An art teacher is the heart of any Project-Based-Learning Schools. So much that good PBL schools feel more like museums than schools, with high-quality student-work hanging on the walls, and in every nook and corner. (This adventure playground was created by our Art Teacher from scratch.)
Your primary responsibility will be teaching Art across all grades in the School (Pre-primary to
Grade +) in a progressive manner.
Responsibilities include:
● Instilling the love for arts in students
● Integrating arts deeply into a project-based curriculum
● Creating an art-based, high-quality final product for many student projects
● Developing strong one-to-one relations with students and parents
● Helping students take charge of their own learning
● Documenting student progress for report card
Additional responsibilities include:
● Managing events, both within and outside the school
● Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways
● Participating in parent outreach / marketing initiatives
● Admissions counseling
