About the Role:
Edlipse is seeking a highly certified and experienced NDT Level III to be deployed at a premier steel pipe manufacturing facility. You will be the ultimate technical authority on all Non-Destructive Testing matters. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of pipes through the development, validation, and oversight of NDT processes, directly impacting product safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Authority & Procedure Management:
• Review, and approve detailed NDT procedures and techniques for the manufacturing line, specifically tailored for steel pipe inspection. Techniques must include, but are not limited to:
• Ultrasonic Testing (UT): For lamination detection, wall thickness measurement, and weld inspection (longitudinal/submerged arc welding).
• Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT): For high-speed, in-line inspection of pipe body and welds.
• Radiographic Testing (RT): For weld integrity (e.g., Double Wall Single Image - DWSI) and complex discontinuities.
• Magnetic Particle Testing (MT): For surface inspection on ferromagnetic materials.
• Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT): For surface inspection on non-ferrous ends or components.
• Validate and qualify all NDT equipment, techniques, and procedures to ensure they meet stringent customer and regulatory specifications (e.g., API, ASTM, ASME, ISO, EN).
• Serve as the final point of technical resolution for complex interpretation issues and defect characterization.
2. Personnel Certification & Training:
• Train, examine, and certify NDT Level I and Level II personnel for specific methods used in the plant.
• Maintain complete and auditable records of all training, examination, and certification activities for the NDT team.
3. Data Analysis & Reporting:
• Review and provide final approval on NDT reports generated by Level II technicians, ensuring accuracy and compliance before client submission.
• Analyze NDT data trends to identify potential process-related issues in the manufacturing line (e.g., consistent slag lines in welding, lamination patterns) and provide feedback to the production and quality teams.
• Prepare high-level technical summaries and performance metrics for plant and Edlipse management.
Required Qualifications & Certifications:
• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Metallurgical, Mechanical, Welding, or Materials Science) is highly preferred. An Associate's degree in a related technical field with extensive experience may be considered.
• Certifications:
• Must hold valid NDT Level III certifications in a minimum of two methods, with a strong preference for UT and RT as the primary methods.

• Certifications in MT and PT are required.
• Experience:
• A minimum of 7-10 years of hands-on experience in NDT, with at least 5 years in a Level III capacity.
• Must have proven, recent experience within a steel pipe manufacturing, plate mill, or heavy steel fabrication environment.
• Demonstrable experience with Automated UT systems for pipe inspection is critical.
