About the directorate

The NDIS Worker Check is a division of the OCG. It operates under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Worker Checks) Act 2018 (NSW). It screens workers that provide services and supports to people with disability (adults and children) under the NDIS. It aims to support people with disability by preventing workers that pose a risk of harm from working with them. We gather information about a person’s history, such as their criminal and workplace records, and undertake an assessment as to whether they pose a risk of harm.

About the role

The role reviews history information about applicants and makes an assessment as to whether they pose a risk of harm to people with disability (NDIS participants). It collects information from disparate sources; analyses the information and makes sound recommendations about the probity of the information, and assesses whether a person poses a risk of harm.

It conducts their role in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and make consistent, considered and evidence-based recommendations.

We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to:

Review and categorise criminal, workplace and other records in accordance with relevant legislation and business procedures.
Identify and obtain relevant information from external parties including applicants and employers to inform the assessment process.
Critically analyse information to form a view on its probity and weight in an assessment.
Ensure that communication (written and verbal) with applicants is clear, simple and easy to understand, while communicating complex and sensitive information.
Ability to distil complex and sensitive matters into concise, accurate and persuasive advice on the assessment of risk.
Key knowledge and experience

Demonstrated experience in risk analysis and assessment is preferred.
Proven experience in administrative or regulatory decision making is preferred.
Essential Requirements

A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or extensive relevant workplace experience is required.
All roles associated with the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current Working With Children Check.
Employment at the Office of the Children's Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.
For further information about the role, please view the role description.

Our commitment to Diversity

We welcome and encourage applications from people across our diverse community, especially from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. We believe everyone has the right to feel safe, respected, valued and heard regardless of their gender, ****** orientation, ethnicity or disability.

The OCG encourages applications from people with disability and will provide reasonable adjustments in our recruitment processes and in the workplace.

How to apply

When applying you will need to attach a cover letter (maximum 2 pages) which states your claims against the capabilities for the role. You also need to address the two targeted questions below (maximum 1 page total for both). You also need to provide an up-to-date resume (maximum 4 pages) in either Word or PDF format.

We are looking for you to demonstrate your competence in the focus capabilities as outlined in the role description, so please develop your response with this in mind.

Note: the selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role.
