The Branch
The People Branch delivers human resources services and functions across the AEC. Our team of HR professionals provide services designed to support our people across functions that includes recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, Work Health and Safety, Wellbeing, performance management, culture and engagement, learning and development, workforce planning and reporting. We aim to work in partnership with AEC business areas to bring a strategic focus and innovative approaches, built on solid operational foundations.
The Opportunity
The Assistant Director, Leadership Development will lead a small team to establish the AEC’s first Leadership Development team. The role has responsibilities for ensuring AEC leadership development programs and initiatives use an evidence-based approach in the design and delivery of capability building to leaders at all levels of the AEC. They will also have responsibilities to drive existing management and APS Craft learning programs.
The Assistant Director also contributes to team planning and aligning longer term plans with agency goals and objectives.
The role is responsible for undertaking complex work, under broad direction, utilising specialist knowledge and judgement across a range of activities relating to the design, development, delivery and evaluation of learning and development programs.
Periodic travel will be required.
To excel you’ll have:
Proven expertise leading and managing the research, design, development, implementation and promotion of leadership development programs.
Proven critical thinking and analytical skills to assess, evaluate and select leadership / learning and development programs and initiatives that will meet organisational needs and requirements now and into the future.
Extensive experience in program management, preferably for leadership development programs or initiatives. This includes fulfilling governance and reporting requirements.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and evaluating contemporary learning initiatives in an organisational setting, combined with a learning mindset and a professional interest in contemporary leadership development.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills including demonstrated liaison, negotiation and representation skills to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Extensive contract management experience, ensuring contractual obligations are met through deliverables, budget and timelines whilst partnering with external providers.
Demonstrated experience in a leadership role with the ability to manage a small geographically dispersed team.
Desirable
Qualifications in a relevant discipline, and/or membership of a relevant professional association.
