Job Function

Oversees, directs and provides technical support for the development, management and financial compliance of Grants and Contracts. Prepares and reports budget data as required by regulatory agencies and accounting principles. Formulates forecasts/projections based on current data, historical trends and future assumptions as required by administration. Leads department efforts with internal and external constituents for the purpose of enhancing grant preparation and compliance in alignment with funder guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

Provides leadership and support for college grant functions

Leads the planning and development of college grants working cross functionally with administrators to clarify and troubleshoot issues.

Responsible for the initiation, development, management and compliance of grant projects.

Analyzes and summarizes data for grant development and management for presentation that includes funder guidance, projections for revenue, expenditures, and cost allocations.

Monitors revenues and expenditures and prepares analyses.

Participates directly with auditors and representatives from funding agencies as required.

Prepares journal entries as needed (year-end, monthly, budgetary etc.)

Examines past budgets, analyzes, and summarizes data, including the preparation of reports to support management decision-making and requests from regulatory agencies.

Prepares forecasts as appropriate.

Prepares financial reports, monthly, quarterly, and annually for management and external regulatory bodies.

Oversees the management of information and historical files.

Responsible for the ongoing analyzes of department methods, programs and projects and their continuous improvement.

Reviews, understands, and communicates procedures, policies and regulations facilitating adherence to internal and external guidelines.

Identifies emerging issues and challenges with grant functions and consults with administration as appropriate.

Analyzes grant and contract awards and independently provides support to college administrators/managers to adhere to applicable requirements and guidelines.

Oversees the monthly reconciliation of projects and accounts to ledgers.

Maintains current knowledge of reporting regulations and schedules with funding agencies and ensures adherence to timelines/deadlines (invoicing, agency reporting, time, and effort certification, FFATA etc.).

Communicates with funding agencies (budget and programmatic changes, extensions, deviations from authorized expenditures etc.).

Oversees the review, development and finalization of grant agreements and contracts with college general counsel.

Functions as an effective member of the team by recommending improvements to systems, reports, policies, procedures, and controls.

Serves on internal and external committees and teams as assigned.

Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher required in accounting or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

Minimum of five years of experience in accounting, budget functions and/or grant administration.
