The Department of the House of Representatives is seeking applications from those interested in directly supporting the work of the House of Representatives and members of Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra.
About the department
The Department of the House of Representatives provides services to support the efficient conduct of the House of Representatives, its committees and certain joint committees, and provides a range of services and facilities for Members of Parliament in Parliament House. The department also promotes the work of the House in the community and supports the conduct of the Parliament’s international and regional relations.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small, dynamic team to coordinate governance and compliance activities for the department.
The occupant of the role will work closely with the Director Corporate Governance, to support the Serjeant-at-Arms and the department’s Executive, to ensure the department delivers on its security governance and accountability requirements, in line with best practice and taking account of the department’s role, size and particular operating environment. The Assistant Director Security Governance will develop a strong understanding of security arrangements at Parliament House, and will make meaningful contributions to policies, processes and reporting. The Director Security Governance will also contribute to security related elements of the department’s integrity framework.
Together with the Director, the Assistant Director Security Governance will work closely with business areas across the department, including the Serjeant-at-Arms Office, Committees Office and the finance and human resources teams. The Assistant Director Security Governance will also work closely with the Information Management Office (IMO), including on information security matters.
Duties
Under the general direction of the Director Corporate Governance, the Assistant Director Security Governance is responsible for:
supporting the development and communication of security-related polices, standards, guidelines and procedures, in collaboration with relevant areas of the department.
providing expert advice to support compliance with the requirements of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and other security policies and guidelines, including transition to the TOP SECRET-Privileged Access (TS-PA) standard, and associated initiatives.
providing expert advice and developing guidance on physical security measures in a complex, high security environment, including office access controls, visitor management and secure storage in specific areas.
coordinating security-related risk management processes and reporting, contributing to promotion of a positive approach to risk and risk management across the department.
providing expert advice to support the development of security training and resources.
coordinating security reporting requirements in collaboration with relevant areas of the department, including PSPF reporting.
supporting the coordination and implementation of business continuity planning, in collaboration with relevant areas of the department.
other duties as directed.
NOTE: The employee assigned these duties may be required to rotate to other areas of the department.
Eligibility
Obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required by the department.
