Details: Victim Support ACT (VSACT) are seeking an experienced advocate with excellent leadership qualities and communication skills to join our team at the ACT Human Rights Commission.
Working under limited direction of the Director, ****** Violence Responses, you will be co-located with ACT Policing’s ****** Assault and Child Abuse Team to lead and support a team of victim advocates in providing trauma-informed justice advocacy and support to victim-survivors of ****** violence to promote and prioritise their rights, safety and interests.
Duties of the Senior Advocate (Co-Located) include:
Lead and support a small to medium team of victim advocates to provide trauma-informed, client-led supports to victim-survivors of ****** violence who are intersecting with ACT Policing. The scope of this work includes the provision of justice advocacy and support, as well as risk and needs assessment to inform safety planning and referrals.
Work alongside the ****** Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) to develop, implement and review a redesigned ‘Meet and Greet’ process, including supporting victim advocates to conduct Meet and Greets with victim-survivors and directly conducting Meet and Greets with victim-survivors in complex, high-risk and high-profile matters.
Work alongside SACAT leadership to support investigators to utilise a trauma-informed and victim-centric approach which reflects good practice and contemporary research.
Develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with external and internal stakeholders, including justice agencies, government and non-government organisations, and other VSACT teams.
