Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in our team of Geomatics Analysts.
You will be working as part of a team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes. You will be using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from our state-of-the-art Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including our Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.

New starters to the Environment Agency are required to have an incident response role in addition to their day job. The team
The Geomatics team is part of National Monitoring Survey within the National Regulation and Monitoring directorate.
We deliver geomatics services within the Environment Agency and the wider environmental community. We are focused on delivering the highest quality data providing a fully integrated approach to the delivery of geo-information. Combining cutting-edge technology and expert personnel we work to the highest scientific and ethical standards to provide accurate and high-quality GIS ready products.
Experience/skills Required
You will have a relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
You will be able to demonstrate practical experience and broad ranging GIS skills using ESRI products such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap and able to demonstrate experience of working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LIDAR.
Experience of processing and carrying out quality control procedures on LIDAR datasets and LIDAR derived Digital Elevation Models would be advantageous.
You will be able to demonstrate experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills and good attention to detail, either through work or your academic experiences.
You will have good organisational skills and be highly motivated with a professional attitude. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and to work unsupervised at times to meet challenging deadlines.

Interviews will take place in-person at our Bath office. They will consist of a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role or provide business continuity support during incidents. Full training is provided.

You will be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in ESRI ArcGIS (or similar level of GIS) and able to demonstrate extensive recent experience working with complex mapping data, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
