If you’re passionate about science and want to be part of a high paced testing laboratory, this role is for you! As a Laboratory Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting both commercial and research-related chemical analyses. Your responsibilities will include:
Lab Maintenance – ensuring the laboratory is in top shape by cleaning equipment, glassware and benches.
Sample Preparation - preparing gas sampling flasks and sample bottles as required for analysis.
Clerical Duties - assisting with basic laboratory clerical tasks, including booking samples into our information management system.
Library Management - Managing the sample bottle library.
Biosecurity Compliance – handling the treatment, disposal, and record-keeping of biosecurity risk materials.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
Effective computer skills
Ability to work accurately and to adhere to strict procedures
Good attention to detail, including clear and accurate record keeping
No laboratory experience is required
Good communication and good time management skills
The ability to work well in a team and to cooperate with colleagues in helping the laboratory to fulfil its functions

This permanent full-time (38 hours per week) role is based at our campus in Wairakei, Taupō.
The salary range for this position is between $61,380 to $68,200 depending on the successful candidate’s experience.
