Assistant Management Accountant – Staines
£40,000 + Study Support
Hybrid – 2–3 days in the office
I’m working exclusively with a long-standing client to recruit a Assistant Management Accountant for their team based in Staines. It’s a great time to be joining the business as they continue to grow and evolve following a recent acquisition — this role will sit at the heart of that change.
They’re looking for someone studying their AAT or have just completed with a view to start your ACCA / CIMA with a background in transactional or assistant accounting, ready to step into a broader month-end and reporting role.
You will support the Financial Controller in the preparation of management accounts, reconciliations, reporting, and the month-end close process. The role will assist in maintaining accurate financial records and ensure that internal controls and deadlines are met. This is a hands-on, development-focused role suited to someone progressing in their accounting career.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of a range of month-end and reporting duties, including:
• Assist with stock and Goods in Transit reconciliations.
• Support the update of standard costs and investigation of cost variances.
• Assist with re-coding of build variances and posting adjustments.
• Help with freight revenue allocations and checks.
• Support inter-company reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing foreign payment runs.
• Prepare initial sales reports and provide commentary for review.
• Contribute to the Working Capital report for Strategic Planning.
• Support with Engineer commissions and KPI tracking.
• Assist with the collation and input of payroll data.
• Act as backup for the Purchase Ledger and Payment Initiator roles when needed.
• Provide backup support for expenses and credit card processing.
• Assist in maintaining schedules for prepayments and fixed assets.
• Support bank reconciliations and bank statement downloads.
• Help reconcile purchase and sales ledgers.
• Provide support across broader month-end tasks.
• Assist the Financial Controller during forecasting processes and uploads.
• Help with reviewing cost centre P&Ls and posting approved adjustments.
• Support audit preparation and respond to information requests.
About You
• Currently studying your AAT or you have completed it and you are looking to start your CIMA / ACCA
• Some experience in a finance / accounts role.
• Good understanding of double-entry and accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software.
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work in a team.
• Experience in an international business (desirable, not required)
