Job Description
The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the direction and delegation of duties, working with the expo, and making sure that orders are sent out on time everytime. In this role you will assist the General Manager and kitchen team in routing delivery drivers, overseeing shopping and purchasing, making sure that orders are delivered ontime to the airport and play key role in supporting the overall operations of the business. Experience in all elements of a kitchen environment is preferred.
Day to day operational tasks will vary, you may be required to expedite order packing, manage delivery logistics, shop, assist the kitchen team, and assist with scheduling staff. Shifts will vary in time but are generally either early morning 3AM-12PM or afternoon/evening 12PM-8/9PM.
Job Description:
Supports day to day execution of catering operation and quality and accuracy of service of food and concierge services.
Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer inquiries or issues in a timely and professional manner adhering to IK In-flight process and procedures.
Maintains organizational efficiency and keeps drivers on task and assisting with packing expo when needed.
Support Manager in maximizing the kitchen’s financial performance in accordance with all established quality performance standards, guidelines, and budgets.
Assist in training and developing team members.
Collaborate with the team to achieve sales targets.
Utilize sales management techniques to drive revenue growth.
Demonstrate leadership skills by motivating and guiding team members.
Requirements:
Customer Service: Minimum of 4 years in a client-facing role (required).
Management Experience: 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role (preferred).
Kitchen Experience: Familiarity with kitchen environments, expediting, or food prep (preferred).
Language Skills: English fluency required. Being bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize under pressure.
Training & Development: Experience training team members and fostering positive team culture.Problem Solving: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills for handling vendors and client requests.
Reliability: Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation are required.
Work Hours: Willingness to work varied shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Island Kitchen has been catering private flights out of Nantucket airport since 2018. We quickly expanded these services to include the greater Naples, Palm Beach, and Miami, to accommodate more of our clients—providing them with fresh, nutritious dining options during air travel.
