Job Description for Faculty at Pune Institute of Business Management

Designation – Assistant Professor

Education - Ph.D Completed/Pursuing

Experience - 2-5 yr

Location - PIBM, Pune

Job Specification – Candidate must be PGDM/MBA in Marketing/Finance/HR/General Management; Professional, flexible and adaptable to organization culture. Candidate must be willing to work in a dynamic environment and must be highly result oriented. Focus towards organization growth is must along with personal growth.

Job Description –

1. Course planning and execution – Faculty is predominantly responsible for planning and qualitative execution of course as per SCPS standards. The head of the department will be responsible for his/her course planning and execution as well as for the whole team. SCPS or Sector-Company-Product-Service orientation towards subject content delivery is attached in Appendix 1. Key points to note are –

• Course structuring would require allocation of pre-readings for each session and monitoring status of class w.r.t. preparation of pre-readings. MIS has to be maintained for keeping track of students who are regular with pre-reading and those who default frequently.

• Assignments consistent with each important topic have to be developed on SCPS standards and uploaded in the ERP system by the faculty prior to commencement of every semester. MIS of each assignment detailing progress report of students will be audited to qualify faculty for monthly incentives.

• Timely completion of syllabus in a qualitative manner would also be an important job role of each faculty.

2. Evaluation & feedback – Evaluation of student performance will ensure that the subject concept has been absorbed properly. Therefore, every faculty must design their course on the foundation of “Teach-Test-Teach” or “Deliver-Evaluate-Deliver”. The annual appraisal of this role will revolve predominantly around this parameter – how evaluation of students was done, how defaulters were identified, what remedial measures were taken for weak students and how feedback was shared with students for each evaluation stage. Remedial actions taken after each stage of evaluation will also entitle faculty to monthly incentives. The HOD will have an additional responsibility ensuring the standards of evaluation and feedback by the team members is met.

3. Role in admissions – Faculty must, in addition to personal growth and growth of students, contribute to organizational growth. Hence, contribution of faculty to admission processes in terms of invigilation, mediators of GD and interviewers; will be required for every batch. Rise in admission numbers and improvement in quality of batch per year will be a performance parameter for every faculty.

4. Role in placements – Ultimate goal of management education is to achieve placements and thus HOD Finance will be duly responsible for placements training and live project monitoring of Finance students, corporate interface, PR activities and MDPs. 100% placements during winters, summers and final placements and rise in average placement package per year for the Finance department will be a performance parameter for HOD Finance.

5. Duties as a mentor – Mentorship program forms the backbone of each academic program and faculty will be assigned a set of students to personally mentor and guide for achieving employability and professional acumen. Performance of mentees will be directly linked with faculty’s performance as a mentor.

6. Research and paper publication – Every faculty is expected to engage in research work and publish at-least one research paper every semester. Preferably the research paper should pertain to the subject being taught by the faculty.

7. Extra-curricular Committee performance and other additional initiatives – Faculty will also be required to contribute in organization building as an Extra Curricular committee head or by spearheading additional initiatives which are beneficial for students as well as the institute.
