We are looking for an Assistant Registrar, to join our experienced team at Coychurch Crematorium.

Working alongside the other Assistant Registrar and the two Senior Assistant Registrars, this position provides clerical support to the Senior Assistant Registrars and the Bereavement Services Manager and Registrar in daily registration and administration, to ensure an efficient and effective service is delivered to the public at all times, for both Coychurch Crematorium and the Council’s cemeteries. You will provide clerical support to assist with the smooth running of the office and bereavement service as a whole, on a daily basis, in a manner which fully meets the needs of the varied service users.

Your daily duties will include answering the telephone, maintaining a computerised database, processing paperwork and statutory cremation documentation, inputting back records, scanning paperwork and general clerical duties. Additionally, you will have first contact with public enquiries about the various services and memorial options provided by the Crematorium and Cemeteries. You will have daily contact with members of the public who may be distressed following bereavement as well as Funeral Directors, Clergy and other service users, therefore you must have a sensitive and mature approach, good communication skills, a sympathetic and understanding manner and the ability to demonstrate excellent customer care skills.

IT skills including Microsoft Office packages will be required. With an aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail, you will be organised and be able to work under pressure.

You will be fully office based at Coychurch Crematorium, working core hours Monday to Friday, and may be required to work additional hours according to the needs of the service.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
