About the Position:

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Annual Giving provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Federation’s mid-level donor program, serving as the architect of the full donor lifecycle for gifts in the $1,800–$9,999 range.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of the Annual Campaign, this experienced leader oversees the strategy, systems, and execution of solicitation, stewardship, recognition, and retention efforts—ensuring that every mid-level donor experiences a thoughtful, relationship-driven journey that deepens engagement and inspires growth.

The AVP leads a dynamic team responsible for affinity-based fundraising and plays a critical role in building a structured, metrics-driven donor relations and stewardship process that strengthens loyalty, increases gift-for-gift growth, and moves donors meaningfully through the pipeline while focusing on building community within the affinity.

The AVP will also serve as the professional lead for key campaign events, including Ultimate Nite Out ensuring these experiences are fully integrated into the mid-level cultivation and stewardship strategy.

What You Will Be Doing (Principal Duties/Responsibilities/Tasks of the Role, Typical Day):

Leadership & Strategic Oversight

Lead and oversee the Federation’s mid-level donor relations and stewardship strategy, ensuring a cohesive, data-informed approach to cultivation, recognition, retention, and upgrade.
Design and manage a structured peer-to-peer solicitation process for lay leaders, providing training, portfolio alignment, and accountability measures to ensure successful gift closure.
Supervise and mentor four director-level professionals, fostering innovation, performance, and deeper community engagement.
Monitor retention, upgrade rates, and gift-for-gift growth, implementing proactive strategies to strengthen donor loyalty.
Donor Portfolio Management

Manage a portfolio of donors contributing $1,800–$9,999 to the Annual Campaign, ensuring thoughtful stewardship and targeted solicitation strategies.
Inspire donors to explore legacy giving and donor-advised fund opportunities to support long-term, sustainable impact.
Events & Engagement

Serve as the point person for executing Ultimate Nite Out—JFBC’s premier campaign event—and the Annual Campaign Kickoff, working closely with lay leadership, committees, and internal partners.
Provide professional leadership, coordination, and support for divisional events, programming, and donor engagement initiatives.
Community & External Relations

Represent the Annual Campaign and JFBC in key interactions with internal and external stakeholders, staff, and lay leadership to strengthen relationships and elevate community engagement.
Strengthen cross-departmental collaboration to ensure a seamless donor experience and a unified philanthropic message.
What You Need to Succeed:

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of development experience, including frontline solicitation and management of fundraising teams.
Proven experience leading annual giving and affinity-based fundraising programs, including peer-driven solicitation models.
Strategic, big-picture thinker with demonstrated success in campaign planning and execution.
Strong team leadership, mentorship, and culture-building skills.
Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities.
Significant face-to-face solicitation, donor cultivation, and stewardship experience.
Advanced understanding of fundraising data, metrics, and budgeting.
Strong project management skills.
Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and public speaking).
Authentic connection to the Jewish community, familiarity with Jewish communal life, and knowledge of the Jewish calendar and lifecycle.
