Full Job Description

The Associate Analyst 3 will be a new member of the Global Emerging Markets (EM) team within Credit Strategy & Research (CS&R). This team is a highly-visible and global group of analysts responsible for articulating MIS’s insights, analysis and thought-leadership on the global EM universe, which covers all elements of fixed income credit – sovereign, corporate, financials, infrastructure and structured finance. Critical to the ongoing success of the EM initiative is the development, publication and engagement with high impact capital market participants. The role will therefore appeal to analysts who relish manipulating data and honing data visualisation skills, as well as doing innovative and original research, including that which challenges conventional wisdom.

Key duties will include:

Assisting in drafting of analysis in support of thematic EM research and outreach, and of internal alignment of views on often fast-moving EM events

Sourcing and developing critical data sets that support the analysis of the EM universe

Generating high-impact charts and other data visualizations that tell a unique story

Assisting in coordinating high impact analytical initiatives across Rating Groups (e.g., SOV, FIG, CFG etc.)

Assisting in the preparation of internal and external presentation materials

Supporting the execution of outreach initiatives (e.g., with investors and intermediaries)

Ad-hoc data analysis when required

An appreciation of debt capital markets (both cross-border and domestic) and the credit rating industry with an ability to converse on technical financial issues

Solid analytical skills, intellectually curious and a desire to solve complex problems

An interest or passion for Emerging Markets

Strong communication skills, including writing skills. Fluency in written English is critical – particularly drafting and editing

Passion for data visualization and data-driven story telling

Able to form and present findings

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Highly organised and efficient, with ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines

The successful candidate will likely have 2-3 years of experience within an analytical environment (e.g., rating agency, investment bank or asset manager) where they have demonstrated strong analytic skills, an appreciation of economics, accounting, modeling and valuation techniques, excellent communication and presentation skills, and strong project management capabilities. The person will have had exposure to and a good understanding of the global capital markets. Knowledge of Moody’s rating business a distinct advantage.

Minimum of undergraduate degree (or equivalent) preferably in economics, finance, accounting or business

Post-graduate qualification preferable, e.g., CFA, FRM, MBA.
