About the team
Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
About the role:
The Associate Cloud Engineer – Cost Management’s primary objective is to enable the optimisation of cost across Coles’ public cloud tenancies, by working within the FinOps team to, broadly, analyse cloud spend, identify and deliver opportunities to raise awareness of and optimise cloud spend, build automation to limit manual work required to manage cloud spend by the FinOps team and the teams that consume its services, and to maintain the team’s software, services, and processes.
They are all-rounders when it comes to the delivery of value, relishing in liaising directly with consuming teams to assist and to understand painpoints, analysing data and processes, and of course delivering and maintaining high-quality solutions valuable to meeting the team’s and organisation’s goals.
About you and your skills:
To be successful, you will have demonstratable experience with:
Microsoft Azure, particularly the governance thereof and Azure Policy
Delivering high-quality solutions and features to customers or consuming teams
Working within large, complex organisations
Microsoft PowerShell, Python, and other scripting languages
Unit testing for scripting languages
Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, particularly for Azure and orchestrated by CI/CD tooling
Git-based source control flows (inc. Trunk-based and legacy flows like GitFlow)
Automation of shut-down, start-up and scaling of Cloud virtual machines and scalesets, particularly for Azure
Automation of the generation and presentation of cost-based insights and reporting
Producing clear and professional documentation and guides for consuming teams in both technical and non-technical voice
Managing and optimsing public cloud cost, particularly with Microsoft Azure
Implementing and managing a public cloud tagging standard
Working with agile and Extreme Programming practices
