Role Context The Credit Analyst will have a range of functional responsibilities overseeing the provision of credit analysis, review and associated MI services Maintain the highest standards of quality and timeliness of delivery and consistency of form, and works in partnership with offshore colleagues to do the same Job Introduction The Credit Analysis Unit (CAU) team works closely with Relationship Managers (RMs) of GB to help them prepare Credit Proposals for all GB&M borrowing names across the Funds, FIG and Corporate sectors. By closely managing the annual review work load and encouraging deep collaboration between CAU, RMs, Credit Risk, and GB&M Onboarding and Client Management Services, CAU maintains a flexible operating model ensuring new business transactions are consistently prioritized effectively to exploit revenue generating activities, and credit annual renewals are serviced in a quality and timely manner. Head of CAU INM will be responsible for these activities for India. Principal Responsibilities Impact on the Business: • Ensure relationship between CAU, Client On boarding, Credit Risk, and RMs is strategically forward looking, highly collaborative and productively engaged towards mutual business outcomes. • Provide the highest quality, forward looking and professional Credit Analysis to GB&M for the existing INM portfolios and new business transactions. • Develop and manage a forward looking and strategic relationship with GBM across INM to ensure work load is considered well in advance, resources are effectively deployed and overdue are controlled within KPIs. • Ensure CAU’s management of Funds, FIG and Corporates is developed with business development objectives in mind, timely delivery of services, appropriate controls, thorough documentation and a high degree of data integrity. Review and with stakeholders formulate and deliver a best in class Credit Risk Management and control environment observing group policy and procedure documents. • Develop and manage a forward looking and strategic relationship with INM and APH/GMO Risk Customers / Stakeholders: • GB&M (RMs, Business Heads, etc.); • Credit Risk; and • Offshore CAU (“GSC”) • Markets & Securities (ALCM and Markets COO) • WB COO Leadership & Teamwork • Effective leadership to secure the highest standards of quality and timeliness of delivery and consistency of form, and works in partnership with offshore colleagues to do the same • Support regulatory and business management initiatives where CAU-specific expertise is required Operational Effectiveness & Control • Develop and manage a forward looking and strategic relationship with GBM across INM to ensure work load is considered well in advance and overdue are controlled within KPIs. • Develop and manage a forward looking and strategic relationship with INM and APH/GMO Risk. • Assisting Head CAU in Maintaining and updating (at least annually) all CAU onshore procedures manuals and roles & responsibilities documents. • Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy. • Maintain HSBC Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. • Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations. • Maintain oversight of end to end credit process by collaborating effectively with teams involved in documentation, limit maintenance or any other credit services Requirements Educated to the degree level. • Minimum 3 years of banking experience, within a credit risk discipline strongly preferred. • Cross client section knowledge including corporates, financial institutions and funds is preferred • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands. • Excellent analysis, design and problem solving skills. • Strong commercial and financial management experience with a proven track record in a service company type model. • Highly developed negotiation and interpersonal skills. • Able to deal with and constructively resolve conflicting views and where necessary, escalate to senior management in a clear and succinct manner. • Be change oriented and able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines. • Able to understand and consolidate diverse and complex business information and identify / mitigate risk issues. • Fluent written and spoken English • Highly proficient in the use of MS Office tools, e.g. Excel. • Strong understanding of HSBC Group credit policies and systems (for internal candidates) • Fully conversant with the nature of complex/structured finance transactions, including i) Project & Export Finance, ii) Structured Trade Finance, iii) Highly Leveraged Transactions and iv) Asset Backed Lending. • Ability to effectively engage and negotiate with senior stakeholders demonstrating considered foresight and highly developed interpersonal skills.
