Shaping tomorrow's cities and communities begins with planning. We provide holistic strategic advice for the public and private sector to understand the full spectrum of planning.

Our planners are the most experienced and awarded in the country guiding projects from vision to approval and beyond. As an Associate Director, every day is different! You'll make an impact by:

Providing an advanced range of planning services including strategic and statutory advice relating to land use, planning policy, strategic plans, development capability, due diligence assessments, master plans, the approval process and management
Working alongside other professionals on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, working to specification, to deadlines, within budget and with a commercial outcome
Provide high-quality planning analysis and advice informed by current government policies, regional and local priorities and stakeholder needs.
Prepare and review reports, presentations and public-facing documents that communicate complex planning concepts clearly and persuasively.
Providing management support to the Planning team and ensuring committed projects remain commercially viable and kept to a high standard of quality.
Support the preparation of proposals and tender submissions, including scoping, methodology development and fee estimates.

A tertiary qualification in Urban/Town Planning or a closely related discipline along with ideally 8 years of relevant experience gained in a consultancy or local/State government environment
Demonstrated strong technical understanding of statutory planning frameworks, controls and processes.
Detailed understanding of policy implementation through planning schemes. Queensland based experience is preferred but candidates can demonstrate skills in other planning jurisdictions.
An ability to be proactive and take initiative in order meet project and client demands
Proven experience managing team members
Strong communication skills with the ability to distil complex situations with clarity and articulate a compelling narrative, both in written communications and verbally
A collaborative mindset, to bring out the best in yourself and others while bringing new thinking to Urbis and our clients
