Mō te tūranga | About the Role
This role sits within Digital Engineering, reporting to one of the People Leaders in the area. We’re looking for someone who is curious, thoughtful, and motivated to grow, with an interest in problem-solving and building quality software as part of a supportive team.
As an Associate Software Engineer, you’ll work closely with Senior Engineers and other team members on meaningful digital products. You’ll be supported through coaching, feedback, and collaboration as you build your technical capability, confidence, and understanding of how software delivers value to customers.
You’ll Be Supported To
Design, develop and test new product features, applying basic testing and quality practices with guidance from experienced engineers
Take part in code reviews as a learning opportunity, receiving constructive feedback in a supportive environment
Participate in requirement discussions, building your understanding of user needs and how technical solutions are shaped
Work in Agile ways of working, including sprint planning, standups and retrospectives, with space to learn and ask questions
Contribute to unit testing and continuous improvement, learning how we build quality into our software
Create and maintain technical documentation, helping keep knowledge clear, shared and accessible
Assist with proofofconcept work, exploring options and learning how we evaluate solutions together
Build familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence as part of your daytoday work
Support incident response activities, learning how production issues are identified and resolved with guidance from the team
Invest in your own growth and development, with encouragement and support to explore learning and career development opportunities
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
You bring 1 to 3 years’ experience in modern web development (for example React, TypeScript, Java or Spring Boot), along with an interest in both frontend and backend development. Experience with, or curiosity about, mobile development (Kotlin and/or Swift) is a bonus. We’re happy to support learning in this space over time.
You also bring a foundational understanding of software testing concepts (such as unit, integration or exploratory testing), and an interest in building quality into the solutions you help create.
You May Also Bring
Exposure to customer data platforms (CDP) and marketing automation, ideally including Adobe products such as Target and Campaign
Experience working with digital communications platforms (such as Atomic.io) and CMSbased corporate websites
Familiarity with unit testing practices and tools
A thoughtful and analytical approach to problemsolving
Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Comfort working as part of a supportive team, with growing confidence to work independently over time
You don’t need to meet every requirement to apply. If this role sounds like a good fit for where you’d like to grow and you’re excited to learn, contribute, and be supported along the way, we’d love to hear from you.
