Associate Event Manager

We are looking for an Associate Event Manager to join the event planning team on The Collective… the evolving, fast-paced creative agency arm of BCD Meetings & Events.

You possess an engaging, professional, and collaborative client-facing presence. You are looking to learn logistics planning for high-end, complex, and global incentives and events and to put in practice your project management leadership skills on a variety of projects supporting The Collective’s Operations team. You are in training to be the MANAGERS OF THE EXPERIENCE. You thrive on moving quickly. You think on your feet.

In this role you will become a trusted consultant to our customers and internal teams and be able to identify and optimize event project management and creative event design strategies. You will fine-tune skills to be an organized and a strong team leader who can spearhead the overall operations of complex meetings, user conferences, conventions/trade shows, incentive travel programs, and/or special events for customers.

You also have the aptitude to embrace and understand event technologies and are positioned to plan and deliver virtual, hybrid and live events.

If you are based in Chicago, for the first 6 months, you will be required to work out of our downtown Chicago office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Monday and Fridays work from home. After 6 months, based on performance, you may be eligible for an extra day from home.

Your Responsibilities
• Logistics planning support for the event planning team
• Logistics planner or project lead on smaller events or special projects
• Travel up to 50% of the time to support onsite operations

You’re good at
• Project management and logistics planning (Minimum 2 years of experience in an event logistics planning or a similar role for events with a minimum of 300 attendees)
• Creative problem solving; Applying experience and critical thinking and consultation to drive solutions and results
• Team leadership: Communicating… both in writing and verbal, with a variety of communication styles and can embrace ideas and opinions different that your own
• Creating & managing budgets (domestic & international)
• Driving timelines and projects
• Learning and working with event technologies and software
• Working under high pressure situations and promoting positivity and focus on solutions

• Smartsheet budget management
• Experience using Monday.com for project management
• Cvent Registration Experience
• Strong Excel skills
• Degree in Hospitality

We carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors, including your professional background and experience. The salary range for candidates in applicable jurisdictions in the US for the position of Associate Event Manager is between $50,000 - $65,000 The actual pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience, geographical location, and project budget
