About Us
VanderLeek Law has built a practise that specializes in Wills, Estates & Trust services. The majority of our clients require advanced estate planning and trust planning, particularly as it relates to family members with disabilities (and planning that takes into account eligibility for government support programs such as AISH). VanderLeek Law is a busy practise that has been in Calgary for over 15 years and we are looking to add team members to support its growth and providing these services on a long term basis.
Associate Lawyer position
Our associates require a comprehensive approach, taking the needs and hopes of the clients and offering solutions to help their families through tough emotional times. Our ideal candidate must possess experience in the drafting of wills, powers of attorney and personal directives. This would include the administration of estates and trusts, the provision and implementation of estate planning advice. In addition to providing services to the firm’s clients in these areas, the successful candidate will work closely with the division of our firm, Disability Advocates, in the areas of Guardianship & Trusteeship.

What background you must have to be an Associate Lawyer with VanderLeek Law:
• Juris Doctor or law degree; in good standing to practice law in Alberta.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in the area of Wills and Estates within Alberta
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, entrepreneurial individual who has the ability to work independently.
• Be able to communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally.
• Ability to convey complex legal analyses in a practical manner.
• Excellent teamwork skills (demonstrated with clients and employees of VanderLeek Law)
• Appropriate computer skills to utilize our document management and assembly programs as well as our CRM software (on Mac equipment) together with the ability to learn new programs and workflows.
