The Role


An outstanding opportunity exists for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Melbourne Complex Liabilities, Insurance and Regulation team.


You will work alongside a highly regarded team led by Partners Kristy Brockwell and Patrick Considine both nationally recognised for their expertise and leadership in litigation and insurance law.


Our practice boasts a diverse and well-established client base, advising on a broad spectrum of complex litigated and pre-litigated matters, including inquests, claims brought in intentional torts and regulatory enforcement proceedings, institutional liability and sensitive claims. This role is ideal for a lawyer who thrives on problem-solving, risk assessment, forensic analysis of evidence, and delivering strategic, commercially focused advice.


Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities will include:


Managing a caseload of commercial and insurance litigated matters before the Victorian Courts and other state and federal courts.
Assisting on broader insurance and commercial disputes.
Providing legal and strategic advice to corporate and government clients on insurance and commercial issues.
Appearing as a solicitor advocate where appropriate and instructing counsel in more complex matters.
For Senior Associates, supervising and reviewing the work of junior lawyers and contributing to client development and team capability initiatives.

You are a motivated, focused and enthusiastic lawyer seeking a new challenge within a highly collaborative national team.

Possess a minimum of 3 years' experience in insurance and disputes litigation, with exposure to inquests, institutional liability and sensitive claims matters;
Demonstrate sound knowledge of civil procedure in the Magistrates', County and Supreme Courts;
Communicate complex issues with clarity and precision, particularly when handling sensitive and confidential matters;
Exhibit exceptional attention to detail and technical excellence;
Have a strong client focus and a proven ability to build enduring relationships with clients and industry stakeholders;
Excel in a collaborative, high-performing team environment;
Take pride in the quality of their work and the relationships they cultivate.

Senior Associate candidates will also demonstrate the capability and interest to supervise junior lawyers and contribute to the ongoing development of the practice.
