The Role
As an Associate in our General Liability team, you’ll work closely with senior lawyers and partners on complex, high‑value insurance matters, while running your own files with increasing autonomy. The role offers a broad mix of general insurance work, with particular exposure to property damage and institutional abuse matters, alongside personal injury and product liability work.
Our General Liability practice is known for handling complex, sensitive and high‑profile defendant matters for leading domestic and international insurers. We are looking for someone who has worked across Public Liability, Personal Injury, Product Liability, or equivalent General Liability matters on the defendant side.
What You’ll Do:
Work on property damage claims arising from fires, equipment failure, construction defects and other insured events - an area of growing demand within the practice.
Support the defence of institutional and sensitive abuse claims.
Assist on product liability matters, including multiparty and representative proceedings, often involving interstate and international insurers.
Act on a broad range of general liability and personal injury matters.
Provide coverage and liability advice across general liability and related policy lines.
Draft pleadings, evidence and advice, and manage matters under appropriate supervision.
Work directly with insurer clients, experts and counsel, building trusted long‑term relationships.
Contribute to team workflow, knowledge sharing and mentoring of junior lawyers.
What We’re Looking For:
A mid‑level Associate with around 4–5 years’ PQE in insurance litigation or general liability matters.
Experience (or a strong interest) in property damage and/or institutional abuse work.
Strong technical, drafting and analytical skills, with a commercial, practical approach to problem‑solving.
Someone looking for high quality work and a clearer career trajectory.
