UrbanPiper is the leading SaaS platform in the restaurant industry. We’re helping the smallest of restaurants to the largest chains across the world to grow their in-store and online commerce. Your role:
As a Backend Engineer, you will work on one of our core products to build a performant, scalable system which helps our users operate restaurants at scale. We are looking for someone with a growth mindset who continuously strives to upskill themselves. You will work closely with the engineering and product teams to build features that delight our users. You will:
• Learn how to work with various components of the system such as the order processing system, catalog validation system, API server etc.
• Work with internal and external APIs.
• Fix bugs reported by our support team and occasionally work with the support team to triage and debug customer issues.
• Learn and write tests to ensure high quality code delivery.
• Document components and parts of the system as you learn more about the system(s).
• Participate in code reviews and duly learn and implement inputs received through the review process.
We are looking for someone who has/is:
• 0-1 years of experience using PHP or a similar scripting language.
• Ability to think logically and split a problem into manageable sub-problems.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Understanding of Object Oriented Programming.
• Familiarity with a Source Code Management system such as Git.
• Knowledge of/willingness to learn SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Above all, someone highly curious and willing to learn new technologies/solutions and develop your programming skills to handle more complex and ambitious problems.
Good to have:
• Familiarity with a Unix operating system such as Linux/MacOS.
• Familiarity working with Laravel.
• Open source project contributions in the Web development/Systems domain
