Job Description
Kotak Special Situations Fund (“KSSF” or the ‘Fund’) is an Alternative Investment Fund (registered with SEBI as a CAT II AIF), managed by Kotak Investment Advisor Limited (“KIAL”), with an initial corpus of USD 1 billion and is anchored by a USD 500 million commitment from one of the largest sovereign wealth funds globally. The Fund has been fully deployed with investments across sectors. Successor fund has been raised with the first close at US$1.2 billion. The Fund makes strategic investments in companies with a sector and product agnostic approach. The Fund makes investments with the objective of obtaining primarily long term capital appreciation and returns in the nature of interest, dividend, capital gains or share of profits through a combination of appropriate instruments on its investments.“
Job Requirements:
Understanding the commercials behind each transaction thoroughly for monitoring purposes
Responsible for monitoring Conditions Precedent and Conditions subsequent
On-going monitoring of the financial performance of the portfolio investment. Be alert to developments and risks that arise and anticipate the same and escalate where necessary.
Monitor and review checks and balances to protect the funds’ interests on matters like board meetings, minutes, related party transactions etc.
Ensure follow up of such governance matters with the investee company and ensure regulatory and other compliances.
Build a relationship with the investee company to ensure a smooth working relationship and ensure co-operation from the investee company team.
Co-ordinate with the audit team to ensure closure of audit issues, as may be applicable
Skills and Requirements:
Experience and Qualifications - experience in Credit Risk, Credit Monitoring/Management, Corporate finance
Qualifications – MBA/ CA with 3 - 5 years of experience of relevant experience
CS or law qualification will be an added bonus and will enhance candidature.
Skills required: Deep understanding of finance, accounts, commercial contracts and its implications thereof on businesses.
Excellent knowledge of financial modelling and excel skills
Exposure to listed companies and related compliance is essential
Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple engagements and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
High level of attention to detail
