Role Purpose You will be responsible for assisting with the structuring and execution of Indian Priority Sector Lending (“PSL”) Pass Through Certificate (“PTC”) structured finance transactions. The role will involve working as part of the GB India team and being functionally accountable to the regional Structured Finance ASP (“SF”) team. The role will primarily cover transactions in PTC asset classes including mortgages, consumer loans, and commercial vehicle loans. The SF team’s transactions typically involve an in-depth structuring process which includes consideration for asset credit performance, rating agency methodologies, hedging, accounting, legal, tax and regulatory capital considerations. Strong quantitative skills (including financial modelling) are a requirement, as are credit, sector and legal skills. From a junior level upwards the team is involved in the client and investor discussions, as well as working closely with relevant coverage, sector and sales teams. Principal Accountabilities • Assisting in the execution of new PSL PTC financing and distribution opportunities. • Working with GB India and SF team members to produce relevant content to facilitate high quality discussions across our client base. • Assisting in the design of complex PSL PTC structures to meet client needs as well as optimising for HSBC’s capital efficiency and managing the bank’s risk profile. • Writing term sheets to share with clients to agree financing terms. • Running the structuring and execution of PSL PTC transactions in conjunction with other internal product partners, including preparing internal credit papers/memos and managing approval processes. • Working with external counsel to ensure transaction documentation is in line with agreed structure. • Acting as the local PSL PTC contact person from a product perspective. • Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including inter alia, the Group Compliance policy. • Maintain HSBC Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. • Undertake all required activities as directed by your local and functional line managers or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the development of the business. ` Requirements • 3-5 years of experience in relevant roles. • Master's degree in Business Administration • Proven experience gained within asset backed deal origination and execution in India. • Good knowledge of the ABS/PTC market across several asset classes including rating agency methodologies and the regulatory environment. • Knowledge and understanding of the regulations that impact the securitisation market as well as bank internal capital models for securitisation products. • Knowledge of the PSL client base and the Indian corporate sector more generally. • Previous experience of working directly with clients and managing ongoing relationships. • Knowledge of Global Banking and Markets products. • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure. • Strong Excel modelling skills and ability to read and comment on complex legal documents.
