Job Description
The Senior Specialist - Nuveen Client Services conducts operational activities for the investment function, supporting the management of capital on behalf of pensions, endowments, corporate plan sponsors, and other institutional investors. Working under limited supervision, this job executes various operational processes pertinent to trade processing, settlements, securities transfer and record maintenance.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Executes asset management operational processes including trade processing, settlements, and securities transfers, ensuring quality, accuracy and completeness.
Researches complex investment account issues and resolves escalated issues.
Participates in process improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, communicating recommendations for further process improvement opportunities to management team.
Reviews financial statements and performance reports before they are distributed to investors.
Communicates with legal counsel and outside auditors on filings, examinations, reporting, and other related tasks as needed.
Ensures compliance with investment restrictions, laws, Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), tax codes, and other corporate and regulatory policies when performing operational processes.

Functional Responsibilities:
The Investment Operations Payment Processing -
Perform day-to-day operational functions of payment processing and light administrative system maintenance. This role will be responsible for processing timely payment requests while providing resolution to payment inquiries. In addition, adhering to policies and procedures governing the processing of payments.
Perform operational functions and maintain investment records for a variety of alternative investments in the Real Assets, Impact Investing, Real Estate, and Private Placements space. Investors include the TIAA General Account as well as a variety of third-party clients.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Initiate payment requests in Great Room payment processing module
Provide high level support required to meet critical investment deadlines.
Review payment details (wiring instructions, supporting backup)
Maintain bank account information.
Adhere to internal policy “Nuveen Signing Authority Delegation for Nuveen Investment Disbursements.”
Manage requests for new approvers.
Request access to the payment processing module for new system users
Link new Investments to its associated bank account
Must be thorough and attention to details.

Proactively engage in project related work within and outside of team
Identify improvement opportunities, look for new ways to get things done.
Enter transactions such as capital calls, distributions and valuation transactions for private equity into the Front Invest system, along with supporting documents.
Facilitate the closing of new Private Placement deals in CRD by overseeing outgoing wires and submitting instructions to take physical certificates into the custodian vault.
Assist management with data gathering for inquiries such as audit requests or compiling metrics.
Help to resolve reconciliation issues between the custodian banks and accounting teams.
Participate in team projects and testing for system upgrades, new automation, etc.
Work on documenting and updating procedures as required.
Job Requirements And Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Required Experience:
5+ years
Investment Banking and/or Asset Management industry experience in an offshored operations environment
Extensive experience in one or more of the following operational processes: Trade and transaction processing/Portfolio Accounting
Preferred Experience:
5+ years
Understanding of Funds (Pension funds, Mutual funds, separate accts)
Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Required Skills
Very good understanding of the lifecycle of a trade from execution to settlement – especially Fixed Income & Equity products
Solid understanding of SWIFT messaging and format
Excel including macros, vlookups, pivot tables and other advanced skills
Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
Strong team player with very good interpersonal skills
Prioritization and problem solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and address difficult issues in high stress environments
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Eagle Star Portfolio Accounting System
Experience with Linedata’s Longview Trading System, Bloomberg AIM, Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRD) (CRIMS)
Experience with BBH Infomediary.
