About the role
As ATB’s next Fund Operations Student, you will play a key role in day-to-day fund operations in support of ATB Investment Management Inc.’s responsibilities as manager of ATBIM’s Funds. This role provides administrative and analytical support to a variety of internal partners including portfolio management teams, compliance, risk, and finance, and engages with external vendors including the fund transfer agent and custodian.
Accountabilities
Support the operational contacts who actively engage with client service teams at fund company service providers (transfer agent, custodian) in following up or advising on daily operations matters, escalating issues as needed, collaborating and maintaining visibility into ongoing projects, and keeps abreast of all changes while anticipating impacts.
Investigate and resolve process related issues and exception processing, ensuring departmental guidelines are adhered to.
Learn requirements (e.g., from regulatory changes) and understand how they apply across our mutual fund products.
Proactively engage with fund management teams and internal business teams, providing validated reporting to meet internal and external reporting requirements.
Participate in assessment of risk and mitigation of risk through a documentation framework
Skills, experience & requirements
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program with 3rd year standing OR postgraduate program.
Fundamental knowledge and understanding of the financial industry operations including mutual fund administration, broker dealer back offices and custody relationships.
Plans to attain Investment industry courses in the future (i.e. Canadian Securities Course, IFIC, Investment Funds Operations, etc.).
Effective oral and written communication of technical information for technical and non-technical audiences.
Excellent writing, listening and presentation skills with a proven ability to disseminate information effectively to other team members at all levels of the organization.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize, multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast paced, changing environment.
Ability to translate information through both verbal and written communication, including documentation of policies and procedures
Capable of working under pressure and within tight deadlines.
