About you

The Auditor (ASO3) is our graduate/entry level role and is responsible for assisting with financial compliance and internal controls audits and conducting reviews on issues of importance and interest in the public sector.

The successful candidate/s will need to have understanding and awareness (gained through your tertiary studies in accounting) of:

accounting methods and procedures

social and economic environment and the responsibility placed on the department for public accountability

accounting and auditing standards and practices

audit strategy and scope.

About the role

The Office is a great place to start your career and will give you a broad range of auditing, financial, accounting and management experience for wherever your career may take you.

As a Graduate Auditor, you will work as part of a small audit team carrying out financial and compliance auditing and system reviews on a range of clients. Your tasks will include:

examining and verifying financial related transactions and records

evaluating internal accounting controls and financial reporting systems

preparing reports.

Graduate development program

You will complete a graduate development program during your first year of employment (the probation period). This program includes on and off the job learning and development to help you to settle into your new job and learn how the Office and the SA public sector works.

Essential requirements

Completed a degree in accounting or commerce (majoring in accounting) or an appropriate degree recognised by the Auditor-General (candidates may still be considered if there is a small study gap to meet the degree qualification at time of commencing in the role)

The completed degree must meet the requirements for entry into the professional accounting program offered by CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (through their accredited tertiary degree entry pathways)

Be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident at the time of applying

Specific requirements

Shortlisted candidate/s will be required to complete a pre-employment declaration form and provide evidence of Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency

Recommended candidate/s will be required to undergo a national criminal history check.
