Team / division overview

The Real Estate division of DWS is a full-service Real Estate manager with approximately EUR 61 billion AUM globally. DWS Real Estate acquires and manages investments in individual assets or Real Estate portfolios on behalf of funds and separate accounts.

The direct Real Estate team in Australia is responsible for the origination, acquisition, asset management and disposition of Real Estate assets in Australia, which are to be acquired by a wide range of funds and clients of the DWS platform. The Sydney-based team works on diverse tasks across various Real Estate asset classes such as office, shopping centres, logistics, hotels and residential schemes.

Role Details

As an Australia Head of Real Estate Transactions/Acquisitions , you will be responsible for:

Team management responsibility for direct Real Estate transactions and asset management in Australia
Leading on the full transaction life-cycle that includes, sourcing acquisitions, underwriting and evaluating the acquisition, negotiating the agreement, coordinating the due diligence process and responsibility for closing
Executing all capital market activity as it relates to financing of the assets in accordance with terms required by Portfolio Managers
Executing on property dispositions, in line with guidance from the Portfolio Manager of each investment account
Driving the strategy and execution of Australian investment opportunities from a market perspective, supporting team members in conducting financial underwriting and commercial appraisal, structuring the investments, transaction negotiations and presenting to internal clients, funds and investment committees
Oversee the investment during the asset holding period by sitting as a director of the investment vehicles.
This role may require representing the division by sitting in the legal entity board and APAC Real Estate Investment Committee.
We are looking for

Extensive experience in the Real Estate sector, preferably from institutional Asset Management, Investment Banking, Private Equity or Real Estate development
Demonstrable track record of sourcing and closing Australian Real Estate transactions across Commercial (logistics, office, industrial, retail) and/or Residential assets
Experience in structuring Real Estate transactions on behalf of foreign capital for non-discretionary and discretionary investment accounts would be beneficial
Sound experience across both direct Real Estate transactions/acquisitions and asset management
Established relationships with investors, which can be leveraged to drive new business in direct Real Estate mandates for Australia
The successful candidate can ideally provide notable experience in the residential sector in Australia or abroad (BTR, BTS or PBSA)
