Job Description
The Job: The successful candidate will be a motivated, customer-focused and results-driven individual with one years' experience as a Parts Advisor in an Automotive Dealership or comparable customer service experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Greets all customers promptly at front counter.
· Sell parts through the shop, by phone or over the counter to customers.
· Assist walk-in customers with the selection of parts, suggest companion requirements and relay specials to ensure customer is aware of the product line.
· Provide price quotes and other related parts information via the telephone.
· Determine availability on out-of-stock items and, if requested by customer, submit emergency order.
· Provide guidance to outside sales representatives regarding orders.
· Prepare orders daily for shipment, delivery or pick-up.
· Retrieve parts purchased from stock.
· Review files weekly to keep track of back orders and return to vendor items.
· Issue credit for parts returned; ensure invoice number is on hand to verify purchase and pricing.
· Assist the Parts Manager in ordering stocked parts.
· Aid mechanics / technicians in determining parts required for repairs.
· Provide mechanics / technicians with necessary parts with minimal wait time.
· Confirm with Shop Foreman/Service Manager on repair parts and customer commitment to the repair before ordering out-of-stock items.
· Notify Shop Foreman/Service and customer once parts received.
· Follow all company and manufacturer policies, directives and procedures.
· Attend all department meetings.
· Comply with required health and safety regulations
Perform any other duties as assigned by management
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:
Efficiency and accuracy in fulfilling customer requests.
Volume of parts sold.
Effective sales presentation.
Positive feedback from Service Advisors, customers and technicians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
1-2 years’ related experience.
Basic understanding of automotive, power sports and power equipment parts.
SKILL & EFFORT:
Effective listening and communication skills.
Strong organizational and mathematical ability.
Able to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
Stamina to stand during work hours.
Capable of carrying parts up to 100 lbs.
Manual dexterity for typing / keyboarding.
Computer literate.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasionally manage deadlines.
Routinely stand for prolonged periods.
Frequent work with loud noise.
Frequent work outside of regular work hours.
Occasionally manage stressful situations with upset or impatient people.
Occasional eyestrain related to computer use.
Occasional work in an uncomfortable environment with possible risk of injury.
Work environment necessitates proper personal protective equipment in keeping with health and safety requirements.
