Job Summary:
The Automobile Service Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of vehicles. This role involves using advanced diagnostic equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality service. The Automobile Service Technician will work closely with other technicians, se rvice advisors, and parts specialists to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Vehicle Maintenance and Repair:
• Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
• Diagnose and repair various mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in vehicles.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify potential issues and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Diagnostics:
• Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify and troubleshoot problems.
• Interpret diagnostic trouble codes and determine the appropriate course of action.
• Stay updated on the latest diagnostic tools and technologies.
• Customer Service:
• Communicate clearly and effectively with customers regarding vehicle issues, repair needs, and service timelines.
• Provide accurate estimates for repair costs and timelines.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality service and addressing any concerns promptly.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping:
• Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and labor hours.
• Complete service reports and update vehicle maintenance records.
• Ensure all documentation complies with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
• Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with industry trends and technologies.
• Collaboration and Teamwork:
• Work collaboratively with other technicians, service advisors, and parts specialists to ensure efficient workflow.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians.
• Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an automotive service technology program preferred.
• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent preferred.
• Proven experience as an automobile service technician or mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Technical proficiency in automotive repair and maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Physical stamina to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects.
Working Conditions:
• The Automobile Service Technician will work in a repair shop or service center environment.
• May be required to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Exposure to noise, chemicals, and other hazards typical of an automotive repair shop.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
