We are looking for passionate, skilled Plant Mechanics/Fitters to support our Plant Department in Leeds, to carry out preparation, fault finding, repairs, and scheduled maintenance of mechanical construction plant equipment (Fraste, Dando and Soilmec) including hydraulics, and instrumentation, both in the Depot in Leeds, and on sites throughout the UK. You will service maintain and repair cable percussion drilling rigs, rotary drilling rigs, top hammers, grout mixing plant, water and mud pumps, water tanks, silos, ancillary drilling and probing plant and equipment, ensuring acceptable housekeeping practices are employed and maintained.
The role will be based out of our Leeds Yard and will be required to attend sites throughout the UK, including overnight stays.
A van will be provided, and work will need to be undertaken within the companies’ procedures and policies, ensuring that the work is carried in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
45-hour week, Monday to Friday 07:30 - 17:30.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
· NVQ in Plant Maintenance
· Valid CSCS card for Slinger/Signaller, Abrasive Wheels
· Experience of working on mobile and static construction equipment
· Experience of maintenance and repairs in the following areas:
o Diesel Engines
o Hydraulic Systems
o Fault Finding
· Ability to think difficulties through and problem solve
· Ability to identify, assess and highlight faults/problems
· To be familiar with hydraulic systems including the reading and interpretation of hydraulic diagrams
· To be familiar with electronic systems including the reading and interpretation of diagrams, engines and fuel systems and transmissions
· Manual Handling Training
· Good communicator and team player
· Welding qualification desirable
· A full UK Driving Licence is required.

The laboratory also maintains our In-Situ testing capability, including CBR and Plate Bearing tests.

Working hours: Monday – Friday – 45 hours 8am – 5pm, fluctuates 1 in 2 Saturdays 8am-1pm
Salary: up to £38, 463 + OTE/ Bonus

About this opportunity…
As a skilled technician, you will become part of a team of experts supporting one of our well-known retailers. Full manufacturer training is provided, so specific brand experience is not required. You will also receive ongoing training at Volvo’s training and development centre to keep you up to date with the latest technology.
Key responsibilities…
• Servicing and maintenance of all vehicles across the brand.
• Electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair, this work may include warranty approved work in line with our brand parameters.
• Department of Transport (MOT) testing duties (if qualified)
• Completing job cards and electronic write ups on franchise platforms
• Completion of electronic vehicle health checks (eVHC’s)
• Support Apprentice Technicians as required.
What you’ll bring…
• Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic (or transferable skills within a similar role) with technical expertise to work at pace.
• A team-player who is comfortable operating with set processes and procedures.
• A qualified Vehicle Technician with an industry recognised qualification, ideally level 3 but level 2 will be considered (IMI, City & Guilds or equivalent)
• Ability to carry out MOT’s is desirable, but not essential as full training will be offered.
• Motivated, dedicated and organised with a focus on Health & Safety in the workplace.
