Introduction: The individual will be a member of CIB India legal team based in Mumbai and will work with the Legal team and the Businesses and other functional areas, to provide transactional and advisory coverage for the Corporate Banking, Investment Bank and Private Bank businesses in India and associated and ancillary legal coverage and assistance. The role will also require the individual to collaborate with other members of the Legal function in India and in the Asia Pacific Region as well other regions on projects and other pieces of work associated with Legal function deliverables and responsibilities. What will you be doing - Drafting and negotiation of bespoke contracts and other transactional documents. - Development and maintenance of standard templates - Input to and preparations of cases for legal opinion - Review of and input to legal opinions and enforceability memoranda - Discussion on and input to transaction structures within the Legal function and with Business and other functional stakeholders - Assessment of relevant regulatory frameworks - Tracking relevant regulatory and legal developments (statutory and case law). Analysing the same and preparing relevant summaries for internal dissemination and assessment and application - Engaging with panel law firms on the organisation's interaction with them - Advising functions and businesses on legal matters associated with their remits e.g., Operations, Sourcing and Procurement) - Assisting with responses to regulatory authorities and investigative and law enforcement agencies - Assisting with the management of litigation and disputes - Handling matters and aspects associated with the above - Acting in an effective, and impactful manner. What we're looking for: Qualified lawyer in Indian law. Previous relevant experience in-house or at a law firm.
