We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of AVP – Fixed Income Fund Research .

Global Manager Selection - Fund & ETFs (GMS) is the designated Centre of Reference in charge of selection, research and approval of all funds and ETFs, which are sold/distributed by various HSBC Group business such as Wealth and Personal Banking, Private Banking, and various Insurance entities, across the globe. GMS is a global team, based in London and Bangalore, responsible for mutual funds across all the asset classes encompassing Equity, Fixed Income, and Multi-Asset.
The Opportunity:
The candidate will be part of a global team charged with fund selection for various HSBC Group businesses including Wealth and Personal Banking, Private Banking, and Insurance. The individual will provide specialist expertise on the fixed income asset class with a focus on mutual funds. She/he would be responsible for selection and research of fixed income mutual funds. She /he will be responsible for creation of high quality thought leadership materials that will help drive adoption and growth of the product line globally. The candidate will be expected to have extensive interaction with asset managers. A key requirement for the role will be the ability to analyze various fixed income investment strategies, formulate independent opinions, and articulate views in writing and/or through presentations. The role will provide an opportunity to collaborate with other product lines as well as to lead and develop junior members of the fixed income pod. Therefore, an entrepreneurial approach and willingness to take end-to-end ownership are key, as is the ability to collaborate and communicate with the team members and key stakeholders across the business.
What You'll Do?
The primary responsibilities include:
• High quality fund selection across the fixed income asset class.
• Conduct in-depth investment due diligence across a diverse range of fixed income strategies, form independent views and articulate them through detailed research notes.
• Ongoing monitoring of the fixed income fund shelf and suggesting changes based on market environment, business requirements, etc.
• Prepare and disseminate high quality thought leadership material to help drive adoption and growth of the product line globally.
• Engage with various HSBC business lines to understand and manage their requirements for fixed income mutual funds.
• Actively participate in the fund selection committees and processes, and represent the fixed income pod at in-house forums for self and junior team members.
• Collaborate with local fund specialists with frontline in proposing fixed income fund solutions Requirements
What you'll need to succeed in the role?
• 7 years or more of prior experience in the Funds / Asset Management industry with specialist exposure to fixed income. Prior experience should ideally include experience as a fixed income fund manager, fund selector/researcher or as an investment specialist in fixed income.
• Professional qualifications / certifications like a CFA, FRM, MBA or Masters with Finance specialization are a positive.
• Practical knowledge / experience of financial markets, macroeconomic environment, risk management, regulations and their application to the fixed income markets.
• An analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Good writing and communication skills.
• Proactive, positive attitude and ability to multi-task especially under pressure to meet time sensitive deadlines.
• Team player, strong organizational and time management skills, and people management experience.
• Working knowledge of research tools/databases such as Morningstar, Fastest, Style Analytics and Bloomberg.
What additional skills will be good to have?
• Team player with some leadership experience.
• CFA or a Master's degree.
