Introduction:
• As an AVP, you will help to provide second line oversight of Transaction Operations Risk. You will have an opportunity to provide an independent view on how the risk profile is being managed against agreed tolerances and to ensure that the First Line of Defence effectively manages risks.
What will you be doing?
• The role holder will provide input and opinion to the 1LoD using their operational risk expertise, knowledge of risk best practice.
• Review and challenge that the 1LoD fully understand their risk profile and that remediation will mitigate/reduce risk in line with tolerance.
• The role holder will review and challenge, with first and second line stakeholders, the design and effectiveness of governance / controls to manage risks, and seek appropriate assurance to support the outcomes.
• Providing a risk based review challenge and escalation of Risk Events and issues to ensure policy requirements are met, risks are being appropriately managed, accurately reported and escalated to both 1LOD and 2LOD management
• Delivering oversight, review and challenge of 1LOD management of Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs); ensuring that they accurately reflect the business risk position.
• Provide specialist risk content, expertise and independent review and challenge 1LOD management on their assessment and management of Transaction Operations Risk, including consideration of Structured Scenario Assessments.
• Assist on the oversight of the 1LOD implementation and execution of their risk management responsibilities, ensuring, through review and challenge methodologies, that they are carried out in accordance with Barclays' Operational Risk Framework.
• Engagement with the Operational Risk Framework and SME teams on Transaction Operations Risk issues.
• Identifying emerging risks to assist the business in understanding, managing and mitigating risk in line with their business strategy and objectives
• Build strong relationships with 1LOD. Be an active participant in key risk and control forums/committees in respect of Transaction Operations Risk in order to review and challenge that the business fully understands their risk profile.
• Ensure that horizon and emerging risks are identified, to assist the business in understanding, managing and mitigating the right risks in line with their business strategy and objectives.
• Participating in 2LOD Risk Reviews where required
What we're looking for:
• Experience of working within Compliance, Operational Risk, Audit or an internal controls environment, preferably in the financial sector.
• Strong understanding of an organisation's Operational Risk management lifecycle and how effective controls and processes mitigate operational risk.
• Ability to present independent Operational Risk opinion on Operational Risks credibly with internal senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and planning skills with excellent problem solving skills and an ability to understand and identify themes from broad data sets. Strong numerical reasoning skills required.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal English essential (written & spoken).
