· Experience of infrastructure and cloud database engineering.
· Cloud DBA experience (Azure SQL – must have, AWS RDS/Other cloud – good to have).
· Experience as a senior SQL DBA.
· In-depth technical knowledge of the following:
• MS SQL 2005 – 2026 and onwards.
• SQL query/workload performance tuning/troubleshooting.
• Partitioning, In memory OLTP, Resource Governor, Query Store.
• SSRS and SSIS.
• High Availability using SQL Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering Instances.
• Experience of delivering improvement through debugging code and optimizing queries.
• Creation and development of scheduled database maintenance routines.
• In-depth knowledge of Active Directory in relation to databases (least privilege access concept).
• In-depth technical knowledge of PowerShell, TSQL scripting and automation in relation to databases.
• Managing large SQL databases (10TB+).
• In-depth knowledge of security and vulnerability-based approach to security hardening.
· Very good understanding of the importance of metrics and statistics when measuring database performance and capacity.
· Experience of working with development/delivery stakeholders on cloud application migrations or large scale/complex infrastructure initiatives.
· Strong Infra knowledge - Virtualization, Database, Networks, Windows, Linux, Storage.
· Experience with modern DevOps tooling (e.g., GIT, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Azure ARM, Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes).
· Understanding of PaaS, Infra-As-Code, Compliance-as-Code, and when/how to use & enable.
· Experience with modern engineering and agile practices as well as shift left CI/CD.
· Passionate about building and delivering services via APIs.
· Experienced with scripting and/or ideally one language, (e.g., PowerShell, TSQL, Python, .NET, Nodejs, Ruby, Java).
· Proven ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, infrastructure engineers, data scientists, and subject matter experts.
· Deep understanding of broader cloud ecosystem including Cloud Computing Technologies, business drivers and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies and trends.
· Solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to self-manage.
· Vendor relationship management experience.

· University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
· Cloud database certifications for at least Azure SQL (AWS RDS beneficial).
• Understanding of Google Cloud Platform, Alibaba Cloud.
• Understanding Cloud Service capabilities and relative strengths (AWS, Azure, GCP, Ali).
• Knowledge of database backup solutions, including native cloud backup options.
• Experience of Power BI, Azure Power Platform.
• Experience of working in the financial sector
