We are seeking a Junior Web Backend Engineer to join our team of experts. As a Junior Web Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend infrastructure of our web applications. The ideal candidate should have some experience in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Ruby, Python, PHP, Java) and have knowledge of frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Django, Laravel, or Codelgniter.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritise feature requirements.
• Design and develop backend systems for web applications under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Optimize and improve the performance of existing backend systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for backend systems.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in backend development.
Requirements
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Up to 1 year of professional experience in backend development.
• Some experience in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Ruby, Python, PHP, Java).
• Familiarity with at least one web framework (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Django, Laravel, Codeigniter).
• Basic understanding of database design and management (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs.
• 1 year of hands on experience in designing, developing, testing and deploying applications on Ruby on Rails for large scale applications is a plus.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, estimate and execute releases with good degree of predictability.
• Ability to understand the existing source and customize it as per the requirements.
