About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer with basic frontend proficiency to join our UAV Drone Systems software team. The role involves designing and maintaining secure, scalable, and robust backend infrastructure for autonomous and remote UAV operations, including data transfer protocols, telemetry ingestion, and UI interactions.
Key Responsibilities
• Backend Development: Design, build, and maintain robust server-side logic, API endpoints, and session management for UAV fleet control and telemetry.
• API Design: Create and manage secure APIs for user authentication, mission control, drone telemetry, and image/video data transmission.
• Protocol Integration: Implement secure communication using TLS/SSL, WebSockets, and HTTPS protocols.
• Database Management: Handle UAV mission logs, user sessions, system health reports using SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Security: Ensure end-to-end data encryption, secure session handling, and compliance with industry security standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with frontend/UI developers, control system engineers, and UAV software specialists to integrate backend logic with UAV control interfaces.
• Performance Tuning: Optimize server response time and parallel data handling for real-time UAV communication.
• Basic Frontend: Collaborate on basic frontend UI integration including login pages, map control elements, and data dashboards.
Required Skills
• Core Programming: Proficient in Python + Node.js + JavaScript and SQL. Knowledge of C++ is a plus.
• Frontend Basics: Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript for frontend collaboration.
• Data Handling: Experience with secure data protocols, WebSockets, TLS, and cookies.
• Database: Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• APIs & Testing: Skilled in REST API design and integration, using testing frameworks.
• Version Control: Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Cloud/DevOps: Working knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure will be added advantage.
Preferred Experience
• UAV/Drones Domain: Prior work with drone data, control systems, telemetry, or real-time video feeds.
• High Reliability Systems: Experience with mission-critical, high-availability applications.
• Aerospace Compliance: Familiarity with aerospace standards, verification & validation (V&V), and certification workflows.
Soft Skills
• Analytical mindset and strong debugging ability.
• Effective communicator for cross-functional teamwork.
• Ability to document clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
