Who Are We Looking For :
We are looking for a meticulous and highly-motivated backend software engineer for
Critical Mention's Content Engine team to help improve our next-generation media-monitoring platform.
As we expand the amount of content and features that we offer to our clients, you will have the
opportunity to solve complex issues, help design, create, and build upon the systems that power
Critical Mention.
Job Function:
● Designing and writing robust, scalable, maintainable, well-documented Python code for
backend microservices, and deploying it to our AWS-based infrastructure
● Gathering and analyzing statistics and metrics to help design and optimize new or
existing products
● Expanding our comprehensive test suites
● Building internal tools to facilitate development
● Collaborating with and conducting code reviews with your engineering peers
Requirements:
● You can navigate and use Linux systems like a pro
● You have coded and deployed projects in Python or other scripting languages like Ruby
● You can work independently and with others on an Agile team
● You have experience using AWS (particularly EC2, S3, DynamoDB) or other Cloud-
based Infrastructure
● You know your way around version control systems like Git
● You have a solid understanding of relational databases and concepts (PostgresQL,
MySQL)
Preferred:
● You have experience using message and queueing software like RabbitMQ
● You have experience with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB, Cassandra, and Redis
● You have familiarity with search technologies like Solr
● You have familiarity with distributed system architecture like ZooKeeper
● You have experience using development operations tools like Docker, Puppet, Sensu,
and Grafana
