Backup & Disaster Recovery Engineer

We are looking for a dedicated Backup & Disaster Recovery (BDR) Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for data protection, storage management, and disaster recovery planning to ensure business continuity for our customers. The BDR Engineer will administer enterprise backup solutions, conduct recovery testing, and maintain storage performance to guarantee data availability and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup).

• Execute, test, and document backup and disaster recovery (DR) plans, ensuring compliance with RTO/RPO objectives.

• Conduct backup integrity checks and perform test restores to validate disaster recovery readiness.

• Monitor storage systems, replication, and capacity to maintain optimal uptime.

• Respond promptly to backup failures, storage alerts, and recovery incidents.

• Collaborate with NOC, system, and security teams to ensure end-to-end recovery planning.

• Create detailed backup logs, recovery reports, and DR documentation.

• Participate in DR drills and recommend improvements to business continuity plans.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of backup technologies, disaster recovery, and storage infrastructure.

• Experience with Windows, Unix, and Linux environments.

• Familiarity with cloud backup solutions and hybrid DR strategies.

• Ability to troubleshoot backup, replication, and recovery issues.

• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Backup & Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning (BCP), or equivalent.

• Experience with storage replication technologies and high-availability solutions.

• Exposure to cloud-based DR platforms (Azure/AWS backup & site recovery).

• Prior experience in a data protection or recovery operations role.

• Availability for on-call rotation and emergency support.
