Job Description
Location: Sydney, Australia
We are looking for experienced bag repairers who can perform a variety of bag repair and restoration services. You will be directly responsible for individual customers' bags, working on them from start to finish. Your work will be integral to SoleHeeled's continued growth and success.
What you'll be doing
Replacing parts, including hardware, zippers, straps / handles, piping, linings.
Crafting parts where needed, including straps / handles, piping and linings.
Using leather working tools and machinery, including sewing machines.
Leather restoration work — cleaning, conditioning and recolouring.
Sourcing and selecting suitable types and grades of leather and fabric.
Disassembling and reassembling leather and fabric / canvas bags.
What we're expecting
Passion for leatherwork / bag repairs and confidence in SoleHeeled's vision.
At least 12 months of relevant experience — as a bag repair technician, or else as an upholsterer, saddler or leather goods maker.
Familiarity with different bag constructions and parts.
Experience working on premium fashion goods with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work with varying degrees of speed and attention to detail, depending on the type of repair being performed.
Experience working in teams with minimal supervision.
Resourcefulness and a readiness to achieve the best possible results.
Permanent rights to work in Australia.
Bonus skills / experience
Experience with repairing and restoring footwear.
Experience with mixing dyes and paints to match colours.
Willingness to supervise and teach junior staff.
Ability to offer excellent customer service whenever necessary.
Ability to source products from suppliers and manage inventory.
Ability to perform related services, e.g. bag making, shoemaking, footwear repair, and the cleaning and restoration of leather goods.
